Floridians for Recovery (FFR) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to community organizing and advocacy to advance substance use and mental health recovery in Florida. Our mission is to lead Florida’s recovery movement by giving a voice to people in or seeking recovery, linking recovery initiatives and recovery partners across Florida, and working through statewide initiatives to reduce obstacles to long-term recovery for individuals and families. The Recovery Peer Specialist (RPS) has personal, practical knowledge and lived experience in receiving substance use disorder recovery services. The RPS will provide recovery support services to those residents of Volusia County who are in or seeking recovery from substance use disorder including their families, friends, and allies. Major focus will be on engaging those who have survived an overdose with support also given to loved ones who have lost someone to an overdose. This non-clinical position will serve as a recovery resource, role model, mentor, and advocate to those with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The RPS must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships. The RPS will work with a diverse group of recoverees and may include recoverees in the Volusia County Jail.
Engagement and Outreach
⦁ Activities of engagement may include:
⦁ Brief interactions of 5 minutes or less
⦁ Moderate interactions greater than 5 -29 minutes
⦁ Longer interactions of 30 minutes or more to include linkage/resource referrals and/or recovery coaching session(s)
⦁ Attendance at outreach and Narcan events
⦁ When desired by the recoveree(s), conduct ongoing recovery coaching session(s) based on need. These sessions may occur in the County Jail as needed.
⦁ Engagement will result from a variety of sources including treatment providers, community partners. Volusia County Sheriff’s Department, Volusia Department of Corrections, VRA marketing efforts such as social media posts, bus signs, events, and other outreach activities.
⦁ May work to help people who are incarcerated and/or experience an overdose get linked to care.
⦁ Link people who overdose to Medication Assisted Treatment providers and other services in an effort to reduce barriers to recovery.
⦁ Convey hope to recoverees about their own recovery and model that recovery is possible.
⦁ Recognize when to share experiences and when to listen.
⦁ Engagement with these individuals may include linkage to the VRA hosted Bridge4Hope grief support group and our pastoral team.
⦁ Outreach to local substance use disorder providers is a critical component to leveling the silos that occur within the SUD arena that are a barrier to recovery and will comprise a large part of the peers’ weekly activities.
⦁ Describe personal recovery practices and help recoverees discover which recovery practices work for them.
⦁ Help the overdose survivor(s) when possible to develop and use a relapse prevention plan which includes reducing social needs barriers.
⦁ Administer the Recovery Capital Scale as a starting point for services needed. The Recovery Capital Scale will be used to assist recoverees in identifying wellness self-management and relapse prevention strategies.
⦁ Update the VRA resource list on a quarterly basis.
⦁ Other duties are assigned
⦁ Document all interactions according to agency standards such as inputting one on one, group and event activities in the Recovery Data Platform and other tracking systems.
⦁ Use weekly supervision effectively by monitoring self and relationships.
⦁ Prepare for meetings and engage in problem-solving strategies with their supervisor.
⦁ Participate in the monthly Peer Café meeting.
⦁ Work together with other colleagues to enhance the provision of services and supports.

Data entry analyst will be responsible for data collection, entry, analysis, performance assessment. They will input data into WITS, SPARS and GPRA systems.
